Cambodia Route and Accommodation

View S&M Boiler Works Accommodations in a larger map. Last updated: 30 March 2017

Costs are all based on two people and two motorcycles. Locations included secure motorcycle parking. The US$ conversions are based on our average exchange rate while in the country. Most hotels quote the prices in dollars so sometimes we did pay in dollars. If they converted from dollars to riel they did at a rate of 4,000 riel per dollar (we received an average of 4,027 riel per dollar). Another resource for accommodation is iOverlander (http://www.ioverlander.com). We do share all our accommodation on iOverlander.

HENG HENH II
Kratie, Cambodia

GPS: 12.48349, 106.01736
Cost: 52,000 Riel (US$12.91) per night for a double with air conditioning
Dates stayed: 8-9 February 2017
Bathroom: Running water
Shower: Warm
Electricity: Yes
Internet: Yes
Kitchen: No
Restaurant: No
Notes: Quoted in dollars at $13 for a double with air conditioning or $7 for a double with a fan. During the day the motorcycles were parked in front of the hotel and at night we put them inside the shop next door to the hotel (same owners). It was clean, the wifi was good speed, and the shower was warm to hot with an on demand water heater system. Parking for vans/cars would be outside on the street.

FRIEND‚ÄĚS HOUSE
Phnom Penh, Cambodia

Dates stayed: 10-13 February 2017
Notes: We had an excellent stay with an old friend and it was a fantastic time. Thank you Stef and Lanin!

DON BOSCO GUESTHOUSE
Sihanoukville, Cambodia
Website: http://www.donboscoguesthouse.com
GPS: 10.626546, 103.52907
Cost: $10 per night for a double with air conditioning
Dates stayed: 14 February 2017
Bathroom: Running water
Shower: Warm
Electricity: Yes
Internet: Yes
Kitchen: Yes
Restaurant: No
Notes: This guesthouse provides hospitality training for disadvantaged youth so the service was mixed but overall good. The owner is very helpful. There is secure parking (gated and locked at night) in front. The room was clean. The on demand water heater was not great (the water got warm but not hot). We moved to another hotel because this one was already fully booked but we wanted another night in town.

THE GREEN HOUSE GUESTHOUSE
Sihanoukville, Cambodia

GPS: 10.62314, 103.53531
Cost: $15 per night for a double with air conditioning
Dates stayed: 15 February 2017
Bathroom: Running water
Shower: Warm
Electricity: Yes
Internet: Yes
Kitchen: No
Restaurant: No
Notes: Secure underground parking garage for the motorcycles. This garage would only fit a standard size van/truck but they also had parking out front. Overall clean but there was gecko poop on the floor. The GPS location on booking.com and maps.me is incorrect (off about two blocks). The building is bright green. There was a good wifi signal in the room. Warm to hot water shower with the on demand water heater.

MARBLED CAT GUESTHOUSE
Chi Phat, Cambodia

Website: http://www.chi-phat.org
GPS: 11.33548, 103.52895
Cost: $5 per night for a double room with fan.
Dates stayed: 16 February
Bathroom: Running water
Shower: Cold
Electricity: Yes but only for a few hours at night
Internet: No
Kitchen: No
Restaurant: No
Notes: This guesthouse is part of the Chi Phat Ecotourism community project. They have a good website (http://www.chi-phat.org) and you can pick the accommodation that you want and then you make the payment at the community center in town (not directly to the guesthouse owner). They have a restaurant at the community center as well. We did see a few other restaurants in the village. It had secure parking underneath the guesthouse (it is a classic wood house on stilts). The bathroom had a squat toilet and bucket shower. The owner of our guesthouse was a lovely woman though she didn’t speak any English. There are two ferries to get into the village one for cars/trucks and one for motorcycles (or bicycles).
