Near Playa Junquilal and Playa Negra, Nicoya Peninsula, Costa Rica
GPS: 10.174613, -85.817077
Cost: 5USD per person per night
Dates stayed: 23-25 March 2015
Bathroom: Running water
Shower: Cold
Electricity: No
Internet: No
Kitchen: No
Restaurant: No
Notes: This is a beautiful camping area on a bluff overlooking the ocean. There is a quick walking trail to the beach and the beach was very quiet (we saw few other people). It is a scenic and quiet campground. You can have fires in the fire pits and there is plenty of firewood from the surrounding forest area. The road is dirt for the last few kilometers but fine for rigs of any size. Currently there are camping signs with arrows starting at the Iguana Azul hotel, which is located one or so kilometers away. Camping is to the left (south when facing the ocean) of the hotel. There is a good sink area in the middle of the campground for doing dishes and/or washing clothes. The area is groomed so no falling coconuts and lots of flat ground. The bathroom has two showers and two toilets and all are clean.

LA COLINA LODGE-tent camping
Monte Verde, Costa Rica
Website: http://www.lacolinalodge.com
GPS: 10.302740, -84.809646
Cost: 8USD per person per night
Dates stayed: 26-18 March 2015
Bathroom: Running water
Shower: Hot
Electricity: Yes in the lodge
Internet: Yes in the lodge
Kitchen: No
Restaurant: Yes for breakfast only
Notes: Fairly secure for motorcycles (no night security guard but seems safe and they were parked next to our tent). Hot water showers with good pressure. There is an area inside the lodge with tables, chairs, and fast wifi if you need to get some work done. Beautiful view from the camp area and a very large fire pit. It is a walk down the hill into Monte Verde (only a few places there including a small grocery and a cheese maker) or a bus (or motorcycle ride) into the next larger town (about 2k away). We had the breakfast (6USD) one morning but didn’t think it was good value for the price.

CAMPING ADONIS-tent camping
Puerto Jimenez, Osa Peninsula, Cost Rica
GPS: 8.539004, -83.301579
Cost: 2,000 Colon (about 2USD) per person per night
Dates stayed: 29-31 March 2015
Bathroom: Running water
Shower: Cold
Electricity: No
Internet: No but there is in the bar/restaurant across the road
Kitchen: No
Restaurant: No
Notes: The owner Adonis is incredibly sincere, helpful and nice. He is also an unofficial guide, which we didn’t learn until we were leaving but I would suggest if you want to hike Osa Peninsula he would be a great guide. He knows and is very interested in protecting the wildlife. It is a large grass area with shade trees a few meters from the beach and a restaurant with wifi. Clean bathrooms. If you need electric you can hook up to the house. There are resident caimans in the lagoon and lots of iguanas.
