El Salvador Accommodation

View S&M Boiler Works Accommodations in a larger map. Last updated: 20 Apr. 2015

Costs are all based on two people. We sometimes seek approval for Ducati but often we do not; we sneak him into many hotels if it is for one or two nights, but for longer stays we always ask permission. If you are traveling with a dog we have found that booking.com and other travel sites have an option to sort by pet allow ability. Generally, potable water was not available so we filter our own. Locations included secure motorcycle parking.

AUTO HOTEL MONARCA
Turin, El Salvador
ELS-AC-02ELS-AC-01
GPS: 13.95802, -89.78198
Cost: 12USD per night for the room
Dates stayed: 17 February 2015
Pets allowed: Unknown
Bathroom: Running water
Shower: Cold
Electricity: Yes
Internet: No
Kitchen: No
Restaurant: No
Notes: After being led down a very bad rutted dirt/rock road toward our desired first night campsite location by our GPS we decided to turn around before it got dark (and the road continued to get worse as well). We ended up at yet another “love” motel as this type of establishment is all we could find along the highway. It was clean, had secure parking, and suited our needs just fine. The only down side was that they piped bad Latino pop music into the room starting at 7am as a way of telling the guests it is time to leave.

PORETEZO PARK – tent camping
Juayua, El Salvador

http://aventuraelsalvador.com/?post_type=tour&p=116
GPS: 13.89142, -89.77167
Cost: 10USD for two people
Dates stayed: 18 February 2015
Pets allowed: Yes
Bathroom: Running water
Shower: Cold
Electricity: Yes at common area
Internet: No
Kitchen: No
Restaurant: Yes but not open while we were there
Notes: This is a very beautiful camping location high in the green hills with large fire pit and lots of space. Unfortunately there was such a strong wind blowing that we couldn’t leave the tent. We had planned to stay for two nights but stayed for one. Would gladly camp here again as long as the wind was manageable.

TERMALES DE ALICANTE – tent camping

Dates stayed: 19-20 February 2015
Pets allowed: Yes
Bathroom: Running water
Shower: Cold
Electricity: Yes at the common area
Internet: No
Kitchen: No
Restaurant: Yes
Notes: These thermal springs are very close to the Guatemalan border and a wonderful place to stay. There are 9 different pools of varying temperatures, beautiful scenery, and the place is empty at night because it closes at 5pm for all day-use users. If you tire of soaking in the pools there are beautiful hikes in the surrounding hills. There appear to be cabanas to rent as well.

HOSTAL SOL Y MAR – tent camping
El Tunco, El Salvador
ELS-AC-09ELS-AC-08
GPS: 13.494269, -89.382859
Cost: 5USD per person per night
Dates stayed: 21-22 February 2015
Pets allowed: Yes
Bathroom: Running water
Shower: Cold
Electricity: Yes at the common area
Internet: Yes – fast
Kitchen: Yes
Restaurant: Yes
Notes: This small hostel has an area for up to three tent campers on a sand pad. It has excellent wifi and a good restaurant and a small kitchen area. El Tunco is small so it is easy to walk to the main area and the beach. The town is very loud on the weekends (people from San Salvador coming to party) but dead quiet during the week. The parking area at the hostel is open to public parking on the weekends so can get a little hectic but we would still camp here again. The chicken & cheese papusas from the restaurant are really good and a deal at a dollar each.

Notes: This resort is outside of El Cuco (a few miles) and the beach is peaceful and empty(long, no people, beautiful). There are dorm rooms, cabanas, hotel rooms, and tent camping. The tent camping is not advertised on the website. There is a pool and lots of areas with tables, chairs, and hammocks.
