End of an era

End of an era

Shannon’s parents have had a beachside house in Sayulita for over two decades and we have been fortunate enough to go there frequently over the years. The house has recently been sold but we were able to squeeze in for a final two-week stay.

The last two weeks have not been so much about adventure motorcycling as vacationing on the beach and spending time with friends both old and new. We were lucky to have visitors in our own house as well as other friends from Seattle staying in town. We had magnificent dinner parties almost every night, lots of beach time at Playa Los Muertos, naps, and ample down time. Mike also spent time doing required bike maintenance.

On the final morning as we locked up the house for the last time we were both a bit sad as we thought back to all the good times and people we have shared this house with.

The trip begins in earnest as we depart Sayulita. It was always our intention that the journey from Seattle to here would be our warm up period for the trip ahead. Sayulita is our last familiar port. After this, it is all new.

Currently we are at Lake Chapala just south of Guadalajara enjoying the cool, temperate climate and planning our route through the rest of Mexico. On a side note, Mike’s back is giving him some grief so we are taking a five-day rest before resuming our southbound journey towards Oaxaca.
