Europe Accommodation and Route

View S&M Boiler Works Accommodations in a larger map. Last updated: 31 October 2016

Costs are all based on two people. Locations included secure motorcycle parking. The US$ conversions are based on our average exchange rate while in the country. We didn’t always test the Internet connections as we had a good data plan for many parts of Europe. Other resources for accommodation are: iOverlander (http://www.ioverlander.com) and Camper Contact (http://www.campercontact.com/en/). Both of these resources have offline application options for the phone that allow you to search on a map, which I find much easier than a list. There are lots of online resources for camping in Europe. We do list all our accommodation on iOverlander.

The route map is not detailed because we didn’t have GPS tracking of our route and we couldn’t always remember how we went. We often put our GPS on shortest route between destinations as that always took us on small country roads. On the Google route map we did note all the really interesting passes and roads that we took along with links to more information about them.

The bathrooms are shared but there are multiple per floor and I never saw another person using the bathrooms during our two night stay. There are also small kitchens (two per floor) though I didn’t see the pots/pans, only an electric kettle.

Notes: This is a free provincial park/camping. This is best for tents and daytime picnics. There are sinks with water for doing up dishes and there is a toilet block as well. The water was turned off in the toilets (we had enough for one or so flushes). The toilets had been cleaned recently but they weren’t in great shape. The showers were clean but no water. There was water in the large sinks by the picnic area. We put our tent by the picnic tables but the ranger said they weren’t really allowed there but he let us stay as it was mid-week and no one was around to complain or be bothered (plus he liked motorcycles). It was very quiet with lots of shade. A camper car would be ok here.

No charges for the motorcycles. The Wi-Fi was very sporadic and when working was extremely slow. Nice place. You can walk to the river. There are some covered picnic tables and hang out areas. The restaurant offers set dinner and breakfast. We had the dinner, which was tasty. They also sell drinks. There was lots of hot water for the showers. The toilets were clean but there was only two for the entire campground and the toilet rooms were toilet/shower combined so when someone was showering it really limited the number of toilets. There were very few people when we were here so it wasn’t a problem for us. There is an area to do dishes.
