View S&M Boiler Works Accommodations in a larger map. Last updated: 17 January 2017

Costs are all based on two people and two motorcycles. Locations included secure motorcycle parking. The US$ conversions are based on our average exchange rate while in the country. Another resource for accommodation is iOverlander (http://www.ioverlander.com). We list all our accommodation on iOverlander.

Bathroom: Running water
Shower: Hot

Notes: The economy room uses a shared bathroom down the hall, which was kept very clean throughout our stay and not many rooms use the shared bathroom. Our first room was very dark so if staying there request either room 209 or 309 (much more light). There is very secure motorcycle parking as the hotel is down a small alley in the middle of Tamel that is a very busy tourist area. Decent wifi. There is a nice garden with tables for relaxing during the stay and the staff are very friendly.

Kitchen: No
Restaurant: Yes
Notes: They have numerous room rates and we were moved into a nicer room due a problem with the first room at the lower rate. We were in the new building with air-conditioning, very clean and nicely laid out. There is secure parking. They arrange jungle walks and other activities. The food in the restaurant is very good but it does take about an hour for dinner once you order.

Notes: Very secure parking. The hotel is at the end of a dead-end street so no one knows you are there. There are balconies on some rooms. The rooms are kept clean. Friendly owners.

MUSTANG LETE HOTEL & RESTAURANT
Dana, Nepal

GPS: 28.531188, 83.650043

Notes: The room is very run down and small. The blanket didn’t seem very clean so we used our own pillows and sleeping bags. The sheet smelled clean but was old (holes). It was ok for one night. We ate the standard Thali plate at the restaurant and it was very tasty. The toilet (squat style) was rinsed down (mostly clean) but smelled of urine; the family also uses this toilet/shower room.

PLANET BHAKTAPUR HOTEL
Bhaktapur

Notes: On the price we were first quoted US$40/night and negotiated to US$25. It was an excellent place; a really lovely room and very clean. The room included a small balcony. The owners were also very friendly and helpful. There is very secure parking and it is quiet in the evening. You can easily walk to the center of Bhaktapur to visit the old town and temples. The restaurant also has good food. There are nice gardens and a courtyard in the middle of the hotel.

HOTEL WELCOME
Janakpur, Nepal

Website: http://www.nepalhotelwelcome.com
GPS: 26.730021, 85.929504

Dates stayed: 1 December 2016
Bathroom: Running water
Shower: Unknown
Electricity: Yes
Internet: Yes
Kitchen: No
Restaurant: Yes
Notes: This was very expensive for what you get and the room was not very clean but there was a festival in town and things were all booked. The sheets were clean and the toilet was ok. But, the rest was really dusty. There is secure parking and nice staff. We ate a good Thali plate for dinner in the restaurant and the wifi was decent. There are other hotels in the area but it was a holiday when we arrived and so we didn’t spend time trying to find something cheaper with parking.

HOTEL ROYAL
Inaruwa, Nepal

GPS: 26.60453, 87.14554
Cost: 1,000 Nepal Rupee (US$9.27) for a room with three beds per night
Dates stayed: 2 December 2016
Bathroom: Running water and squat toilet
Shower: Cold
Electricity: Yes
Internet: No
Kitchen: No
Restaurant: Yes
Notes: Not recommended – do not stay here. This hotel was very dirty and the room smelled awful (the blankets/sheets were foul) and the bathroom hadn’t been cleaned in awhile besides smelling like urine. High price for what we got. The parking was secure. We stopped in this town to meet someone interested in overland travel; there was not another place to stay. We did not put this location on iOverlander because I recommend that people stay away from this hotel.
