YARAMIDA RESTAURANT & CAMPING – tent camping
Near Burhanli, Gallipoli peninsula
tur-acc-01
GPS: 40.29405, 26.52576
Cost: 20 TL (US$6.67) per person per night
Dates stayed: 10-11 September 2016
Bathroom: Running water
Shower: Unknown but likely cold
Electricity: No, but there were some outlets in and around the restaurant
Internet: Yes
Kitchen: No
Restaurant: Yes
Notes: Restaurant with small camping area. The bathrooms were a bit dirty and weren’t cleaned while we were there. Sinks in the bathroom can be used for washing dishes, as there isn’t another area. Right on the sea so good view. It was secure. We left the tents up and one motorcycle while we toured Gallipoli and the restaurant had very good BBQ. There were showers but we didn’t use them and they appeared to only have cold water. After seeing what else was available in Turkey should have negotiated price to 10 or 15 TL per person. They also had rooms for rent.

SEMIZKUM MOCAMP – tent camping
Near Silvri
tur-acc-02
Website: http://www.semizkummocamp.com/ing-index.html
GPS: 41.07205, 28.16081
Cost: 80 TL (US$17.67) for three people, two tents, and three motorcycles. Unsure of the breakdown.
Dates stayed: 12 September 2016
Bathroom: Running water
Shower: Warm (solar)
Electricity: There were outlets around
Internet: Yes
Kitchen: No
Restaurant: Yes
Notes: We were in a small tent area that has no shade. The water was very brackish so not very good for washing dishes or showers. There is a different area for camper cars that did have electricity and a bit of shade. It is right on the beach with beach chairs, tables, and umbrellas. It is near Istanbul so can get very busy in the summer. The Wi-Fi was average and covered most of the site.

MELIA SUITES
Istanbul
GPS: 41.00547, 28.96977
Cost: Variable – see notes
Dates stayed: 13-30 September and 25 October-1 November 2016
Bathroom: Running water
Shower: Hot
Electricity: Yes
Internet: Yes
Kitchen: Yes in some units
Restaurant: No
Notes: Melia Suites has secure, on-site parking (it would be tight for van height) that was 10 TL per motorcycle per day. They have apartments so we shared the basement, two-bedroom apartment with a friend and because of our long stay we paid 30 Euros per night for the apartment (plus parking). We had the apartment for our first stay in Istanbul. For our second stay in Istanbul we rented a double room for 20 Euro per night with no kitchen. We booked this through booking.com. While there may be less expensive places to stay centrally this was the best option with fully secure parking. Also, the parking was the best price that we saw.

AKARSU CAMPING & BUNGALOWS – tent camping
Cakrazseyhler
tur-acc-03
Website: http://www.akarsucamping.com
GPS: 41.79407, 32.50128
Cost: 30 TL (US$10) per night for two people, two motorcycles, and one tent
Dates stayed: 1 October 2016
Bathroom: Running water
Shower: Warm (solar)
Electricity: There were outlets around
Internet: Yes, but we didn’t use it
Kitchen: Yes
Restaurant: No
Notes: This was tricky to find with the GPS. The GPS tried to take us on a short cut that is a rutted dirt track over a mountain; this road is not used anymore. The actual way is to stay driving east along the highway (D-10) past the access road to the town of Cakrazova, after roughly one kilometer or so turn left onto the paved road that disappears up a hill. This turn and the beginning part of the road were not on our OSM maps and it isn’t signed. The tent area is nice with great views of the Black Sea and access to private beach. If in a van or camper car then you park in the grass by the small one-room bungalows. Nice area tent area with tables and chairs with a fantastic view. There is a kitchen area for cooking with lots of pots, pans, and things.

WILD CAMP – tent camping
Nearest town is Tosya
tur-acc-04
GPS: 41.11228, 34.05794
Cost: 0
Dates stayed: 2 October 2016
Bathroom: No
Shower: No
Electricity: No
Internet: No
Kitchen: No
Restaurant: No
Notes: This is a wild campsite on a dirt spur off of the main highway. It had wellspring water coming out of a pipe and enough trees and bush to conceal us from the highway. Lovely forested spot with little traffic on the main road once the sun went down.

HOTEL ASIKOGLU – tent camping
Bogazkale
tur-acc-05
Website: http://www.hattusas.com/hattusas.html
GPS: 40.026107, 34.607391
Cost: 40 TL (US$13.33) per night for two people, two motorcycles, and a tent
Dates stayed: 3 October 2016
Bathroom: Running water
Shower: Warm
Electricity: Yes
Internet: Yes but we didn’t use
Kitchen: No
Restaurant: Yes
Notes: The actual camping area they have during summer was already closed but they still offer tent camping in the garden of the Hittite Houses (they are managed by the people who own Hotel Asikoglu). It was a nice grass area with lots of shade. Camper cars would fit here too.

CAMPING DILEK – tent camping
Goreme
tur-acc-06
GPS: 38.64494, 34.83429
Cost: 30 TL (US$10) per night for two people, two motorcycles, and a tent
Dates stayed: 4-7 October 2016
Bathroom: Running water
Shower: Lukewarm
Electricity: Yes
Internet: Yes
Kitchen: No
Restaurant: Yes
Notes: The place is run down and seen better days (the pool is a green swamp) and some buildings in disrepair. It is however a great location in the center of Goreme and has very good security. The main camping bathroom building was closed so we used the toilet for the restaurant that was not very clean. The shower that was available was also not very clean and the water was lukewarm. There isn’t an area for washing up dishes or doing laundry. The owner is very nice and he does arrange balloon tours at a good price. We didn’t eat at the restaurant.

GOKER RESTAURANT & CAMPING – tent camping
Beysehir
tur-acc-07tur-acc-08
GPS: 37.65955, 31.70300
Cost: 30 TL (US$10) per night for two people, two motorcycles, and a tent
Dates stayed: 8 October 2016
Bathroom: Running water
Shower: Hot water
Electricity: There were some outlets available
Internet: Unknown
Kitchen: No
Restaurant: Yes
Notes: It is a restaurant, hotel, and camping. Big rigs go across the street but since we just had a tent and there wasn’t anyone in the hotel we camped near the restaurant in an area with lots of grass and a view of the lake. There were clean bathrooms with both squat and western toilets and the shower water was actually hot. There wasn’t an area to do dishes. We don’t know what the area across the street offered.

WILD CAMP – tent camping
Sagalassos
tur-acc-09tur-acc-10
GPS: 37.67092, 30.53183
Cost: 0
Dates stayed: 9 October 2016
Bathroom: No
Shower: No
Electricity: No
Internet: No
Kitchen: No
Restaurant: No
Notes: Mountainous country. This was a hidden flat area just off of the road. This would only be suitable for motorcycles or bicycles with a single tent. It was very rocky with spiky plants so we had to be careful setting up the tent and with the bike tires. We cleared an area of rocks and were able to set up the tent. This spot had a great view of the town below and was one of the most scenic camp spots of the trip. Was very close to the ruins.

WILD CAMP – tent camping
Lake Salda

Cost: 0
Dates stayed: 10 October 2016
Bathroom: No
Shower: No
Electricity: No
Internet: No

Notes: A beautiful spot on lake with lots of pine trees for shade and good evergreen forest smells. All along the lake is a dirt road and there are many good spots for camping.

Bathroom: Running water
Shower: Hot water

Internet: Yes
Kitchen: No (see notes)
Restaurant: No (but for the hotel they do offer breakfast)
Notes: Nice grassy area with some shade. There is a swimming pool. It is a very well maintained and clean facility. The owners speak English. The bathrooms are very clean and there was plenty of hot water. There is an area for doing dishes. It is an easy walk to the travertine pools and ruins.

Notes: Large grass field with lots of olive trees for shade. Gorgeous bathrooms with courtyard, lots of stalls, plenty of toilet paper, hot water, and very clean. Electricity available. The Wi-Fi was average to slow. The owner speaks English. No area for washing dishes. Near the ruins.

GARDEN CAMPING – tent camping
Selcuk
tur-acc-17
GPS: 37.95549, 27.36574
Cost: 30 TL (US$10) per night for two people, two motorcycles, and a tent
Dates stayed: 14-17 October 2016
Bathroom: Running water
Shower: Warm (solar)
Electricity: Outlets for charging small items
Internet: Yes but we didn’t use it
Kitchen: Yes
Restaurant: No
Notes: Overall this is falling into disrepair. The bathrooms were medium clean (they did get cleaned once during our four-day stay). There is a kitchen area that has sinks for washing dishes (warm water), there was also a gas stove though I don’t know if it worked, but there isn’t any pots/pans/etc. There is a washing machine. The pool has been drained. It is conveniently located for town and going to the Ephesus ruins. The caretaker was friendly and speaks good English. There are goats, chickens, and ducks on the property. I didn’t notice anyplace for electrical plug-in for a camper car. Run down but a pleasant stay nonetheless.

ATHEN PENSION – tent camping
Bergama
tur-acc-18tur-acc-19
Website: http://www.athenapension.com
GPS: 39.123337, 27.180282
Cost: 40 TL (US$13.33) per night for two people, two motorcycles, and a tent
Dates stayed: 18-22 October 2016
Bathroom: Running water
Shower: Hot
Electricity: There are outlets in the common room for charging items
Internet: Yes
Kitchen: Yes
Restaurant: No but they offer breakfast
Notes: An excellent spot for tent camping (motorcycles and bicycles) in the garden. Very secure. One of our favorite camping spots in Turkey. Fast Wi-Fi, a fully stocked kitchen for cooking, and a great common room with benches, tables, chairs, heater, and lots of light. The owner is very friendly and helpful and speaks good English. He runs a great place. We ended up here five nights and fully enjoyed our stay.

YNLU BUFE RESTAURANT – tent camping
Erdek
tur-acc-20
GPS: 40.414055, 27.774801
Cost: 30 TL (US$10) per night for two people, two motorcycles, and a tent
Dates stayed: 23 October 2016
Bathroom: Running water
Shower: Unknown
Electricity: No
Internet: Unknown
Kitchen: No
Restaurant: Yes
Notes: This is a restaurant/bar that offers camping. It is run down and we believe the camping was previously out back and would fit all size of vehicles. But, that area is now really a farm (chickens/ducks), dirt area. There is an area for washing dishes and the toilets were clean. We didn’t see any showers nor did we ask about electricity or Internet. It is right on the beach. As we were in a tent we put it up in front of the restaurant so we had a view of the beach that is right out front. The owners were also very friendly bringing us a table and chairs as well as some salad to have with our dinner. It was fine for one night.

GOKTUR HOTEL AND CAMPING
Erdek
tur-acc-21
GPS: 40.39796, 27.83336
Cost: 35 TL (US$11.67) per night for two people, two motorcycles, and a tent
Dates stayed: 24 October 2016
Bathroom: Running water
Shower: Unknown
Electricity: Unknown
Internet: Unknown
Kitchen: No
Restaurant: Yes
Notes: The price listed above is for camping but as he was technically closed and the owner was excited about our trip he let us stay in one of his cabins so we had a bedroom, kitchen, small living room and bathroom. No hot water or Internet this time of year. During the season (May-September) this place has a nice camping area, restaurant, and cabins and is on the beach. There are lots of dogs and cats to play with. We didn’t investigate the toilets for the camping area but we did see a washing up area.
